HC Professionals

Helping to deliver better clinical decision-making and patient care.

When living with cancer, knowing what impact the disease is having on your life is essential if you are to receive the best care possible.

Your Health Companion works like a private diary. It enables you to keep an accurate record in one place, across time - so you are able to monitor changes in your health and wellbeing; empowered to be more in control of your care and, together with health care professionals, better manage your illness and symptoms.

At the same time, by collecting valuable Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) the app helps put 'patient voice' data central in helping to inform the way cancer care, drugs and treatments are evaluated and improved to help drive up standards and improve treatment.

Designed to be simple & easy to use.

Simple ‘To Do’ lists and reminders.

  • Less than 10- mins per month to complete.

  • Reliable data that shows how the disease is impacting your life.

  • Better decision-making and co-ownership of care.

  • Patient ‘voice’ data collected nationally informs research to improve cancer services and medicines.

  • Support team are on-hand to help you.

  • Confidential and secure in-line with Public Health England, NHS Digital and cyber security guidelines.

For both Pleural & Peritoneal Mesothelioma

Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs)

Your Health Companion will ask you to complete monthly PROM questionnaires. These surveys help you and your healthcare team understand how you feel about your health goals, the care you receive, your well-being and your progress.

Most of these questionnaires take little more than a minute to complete, and there are only four of them to complete each month. Less than 10 minutes in total.

What are PROMs

Patient-Reported Outcome Measures, or PROMs, are standardised, validated surveys. They are used to study how you feel about your health status in areas such as:  pain; mobility; ability to perform daily tasks or specific activities.

We collect these PROMS monthly (or weekly if you prefer) during your treatment and while you are recovering or are trying to get back to your life. They are especially useful for: monitoring your progress; helping you communicate with your healthcare team; helping care services improve the quality care for patients like you.

There are two basic types:

  •  General health PROMs can be used to survey patients with any condition. They usually focus on general well-being, mental health and/or quality of life.

  • Condition-specific PROMs usually concentrate on the symptoms of a particular disease. They may ask questions about your mobility, function or pain levels in certain areas of your body.

Working Together

Your Health Companion has been developed in partnership with healthcare professionals, patients and advocacy partners and is being rolled out across the NHS nationally.

Testimonials

Make your experience count. We urgently need your feedback.

Take part in our comprehensive national survey to capture real-world experience of what it is like to be diagnosed, be living with, treated and cared for if you have mesothelioma in the UK.

Completing the survey, you will be asked about

  1. Patient experience of care and treatment

  2. Quality of life assessment

  3. Individual clinical management of mesothelioma

Results from our 2018 survey helped us develop our priorities as a charity as well as make recommendations to the wider mesothelioma community and health care providers.

Please tell us how you feel via Your Health Companion.

A HUGE thank you to those of you already using Your Health Companion.  If you’re already using it, you will probably have completed your experience audit by now.  Thank you  – your feedback is extremely helpful.

BUT we need ALL our members to complete the survey via Your Health Companion.

For those of you who have not done a survey, please register by clicking the button here and follow the simple instructions entering your email and NHS number, which only takes 2 minutes.  The survey takes about 10 to 15 minutes in total, but you don’t have to do it all at the same time.

The MORE Report for 2018 was published in 2020 and you can read it here

Your Health Companion can do more than just capture your experience. If you want – you can continue to use it to help us transform research by spending no more than 8 minutes a month recording how you feel and your ongoing quality of life.  See some of the pictures we’re starting to collect showing for example how the Mesothelioma community as a whole experience their ‘Symptoms’.

Click here to register and complete the survey. Come back at any-time if you didn’t complete at first sitting.
